Boring post but a necessary question

How do you go about changing your name?
I know some of you have done this and I'm too lazy (I'd like to say busy but I'm putting in the time to write this post, right?) to look up the procedure of how one changes one's name.
I'd like to get the ball rolling since I think it's a lengthy process, right? I thought it was something I could do in one day but Kim had made mention of waiting for something to clear in order to finish. Was it SS# then driver's license? I have no idea.
Anyway, if you could let me know, that would be great. Especially if I can get started now. I will be sad if I need to get a wedding license first.
PS: I really like my trainer! She is 2/3 my size (seriously, I did the math and I really think she is 2/3 my weight) and a sprite lookin' thing and really motivating me! I'm also calorie counting which is easy sometimes, difficult when eating home cooked meals. I have 1,900 calories and, man, do I blast through them!

Lucky, I only got 1,200 calories!! I has the slow metabolism, tho.

Name change is a pain in the @$$, but yes, not hard. Just requires time and patience. I have a name change kit that I can give you...I didn't end up using it that much.

Most things need you to have your name changed with the Social Security Administration before you do anything else. Not sure where you are getting your marriage license, but wherever it is, request that they send you two official copies (they may make you pay extra for the 2nd copy). That's in case you end up having to send one copy somewhere for name change purposes (they need an original, etc.) while you're still doing other stuff with the other copy.

SSA only requires a passport and original marriage license. I don't remember them asking for my driver's license, but it's possible. My Visa card was easy, all I had to do was write them a letter notifying them of my name change and included a copy of the marriage license. Banks -- just need a driver's license and marriage license. Benefits, probably can do it through your HR at work, but you might have to call the medical provider and handle having a new card sent. Passport...you can do it through the mail, but you need to send them the old passport and two new PASSPORT (not regular) photos. Um, I think that's it. But the order I went in was: SSA, DMV, credit card, bank, work/HR, passport. Unfortunately, there isn't really anything you can do beforehand. :(

When you get married in Hawaii, you have to apply for a marriage license before you have your ceremony and have your officiant sign off on it. The officiant then mails it back to the State and within 2-3 weeks you have your certified copy (or copies) of your marriage certificate. It's quite simple, really.

Except if you marry an Indian and then it's not that simple... I actually had to do a name change...which is a whole new set of rules and regulations and I'm still working on! But, that's another story. heh ;)

Good luck on the workouts... don't we all know how frustrating it can be to not see any results, especially when you're trying your best...but maybe this new trainer can inspire your metabolism to kick it up a notch! :) In any case you'll look FAB at your wedding!

geez. That seems like a long process. I will be Milan for ever. The end.

Make sure you apply for your marriage license the day you get to Hawaii. It's only like a 30-minute process, but best to do it right away just in case they have any problems.

No, if I deleted something, you wouldn't see it, it would be gone. It was deleted by the author.
Well, this looks like a pain in the ass ;) The Man was right. He said, "I know if you don't change your name right after we get married, you won't do it at all because by then you'll be too lazy." He's right!!! Hahahaha
So it looks like I can't get anything started until AFTER we get married because we need our marriage license. Huh. That stinks.
Oh! As for the calories, I'm going to talk to my trainer tomorrow. I KNEW it was too good to be true! I thought, "Geez, this calorie counting is so much easier than Weight Watchers!" Well, shoot, if I'm supposed to be at 1,200, it's JUST like WW! FYI, it's 5:18pm and I'm at 1040 - it's a good day. If I lose all self control and eat french fries, evidently my day's shot to hell. Did you know Wendy's small fries are 440 calories?! WTF?!?!?! Damn that deep fried goodness ;)

It is a PAIN IN THE ASS. I only have changed my driver's license and my voter's registration. I stopped there! It's almost been a year since we got married, too.

I think I just don't want to start signing my name...Anna Molina-Wilkinson! I guess I'm the dumbass who decided to hyphenate, though, huh?

Good luck. I think there is a name change kit they sell on The Knot.

Let me know what I need to do! LOL!
